Items put up for auction usually start at $0.00 or zero dollars. There are some auctions which have reserves on them. So, make sure that you check the details of auction before bidding on it. For each bid placed, the cost of auction increases by 1 cent and the timer clock running under the auction resets by 20 seconds. Once the timer clock reaches under 30 seconds, then it will never go above 30 seconds for any bid placed. This gives a chance to  other interested users to place bids and also prevents the last second sniping of auction. When the timer runs out, the last person to place bid will win the auction and then he has to pay the auction price plus shipping charges.
